Spring Flowers and New Books!
January 1, 1970
Greetings and Salutations!(Literature lovers might remember that Charlotte used that phrase to greet Wilbur in the children's classic, "Charlotte's Web".)
I have seven crocuses in bloom in my front yard, proof positive that Spring is at last here! March came in like a lion with a wind and rain storm, but my tender blossoms came through. Last week I heard red-wing blackbirds singing in the reeds along the irrigation ditch as well. That' it, though. In the high desert of Eastern Oregon, we can count on a brown and gray landscape for another month at least before green starts to peek from trees and hills. I am so looking forward to spring vacation because we'll take a short trip to Western Oregon where--I am informed--daffodils, cherry trees, and skunk cabbage are already in full bloom!
But I digress. I have two new books coming out this spring, and the first one is already here: MRS. MILLIE GOES TO PHILLY! is out from Marshall Cavendish Children's Books, with illustrations by Joe Mathieu. In this picture book, Mrs. Millie takes her kindergarten class to Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bull and Betsy Ross's mouse....and they have Men from Mars for a treat! (No, I won't give it away--you'll have to read the book!)
By the way, Mrs. Millie's third appearance is scheduled for 2009.
Have a beautiful spring!
Best,
Judy
